Rear Shocks

Hi,
I am in the middle of a rear suspension service. Both of my shocks are junk. I can get the big one new yet, but the little one is not available.
Are there shocks from newer sleds that I can retrofit to fit 1984 Vmax?

Hello, welcome to V.V. !
All the following sleds had the original Pro-Action rear suspension.
1983(?) to 1991 SRV 540
1983 to 1991 Vmax 540
1991 to 1993 Exciter
1992 to 1997 Vmax 750/800 with the exception of the 97 XT models
1994-1996 Vmax 5/600 with the exception of the 96 XT models
Just in case someone replaced the original shocks look at the shock body to see if they are a sealed body or can be taken apart and rebuilt ?

I have both shocks from a 95 vmax 600, very nice shape,pm me if interested.

I bought a new one for my 83 by getting one from the 93 Exciter ,but I had to use the spring from one also as the compressed spring length was about 5/8 " different
V-max suspension on a SRX??

Can I put the vmax suspension on the 81 SRX , i heard the 81 suspension isnt as nice....

yes chris i do believe it will bolt right in and your right the srx's is not as nice,alot lower i think any skid set up for 121by15 would work. i like bobs idea with the extra 10 out of the polaris.
