I am going through the process of rebuilding the motor in my sled as seals in the crank case have taken a dump. anyways I was wondering what the general consensus was on ball honing my jugs as there is some little minor pitting in the cylinder. These are original and have not been resleaved. my manual says NO honing so I guess that would answer my question, but I thought maybe ball honing would be ok as obviously it is not the same as a regular hone job. AND / OR what the consensus would be on lightly hitting them with some fine sand paper. I have purchased new pistons and rings well thanks for any help guys, MIKE

I have used a ball hone for years with good results.

From Wiseco
-Chrome cylinder Honing
Wiseco recommends finish honing the cylinders with any where from a 240 to 400 grit, and recommend 280 grit as best. We do have a soft hone available that will do the job nicely. The part # is W6077 and will work for 63-76mm bores. You can find more information on our website at
