Your the expert on this, any chance you know how to tell the years of other yamis?

These two followed me home from the race on Sat

ET 250, 8H4 036503

SRV, 8Y0 002678

Both are rough but mostly there, unfortunatly missing the windschield trim I need for my SRV
I thinkin these will sit for awhile

Followed you home..... sounds fishy.... :) Both are cool sleds and my favorite is the SRV ! 79 and a 85. My first Yamaha and the sled that won me over to Yamaha was a 85 SRV ! See http://www.vintagevmax.com/files/oldersledmodels.html or http://www.vintagevmax.com/sled_serial_numbers.html

Thanks Chuck, Both need some work, the SRV more then the 250 A friend has had them for a long time, sat outside since 98, Drained the fuel tank and the 250 fired right up, purrs like a kitten. It needs a spring for the ft shi and a set of slides for the track. The wind snapped the cable holding the hood and flopped it over on me while I was cleaning so now it also needs a windshield and some glas work To look good again it also needs some of the plastic vents in the hood which are broken, but thats about it.
The SRV I did get to fire but something is locked up either in the chain case or the ft track drive, the rear shid is also froze up but I believe its the same as the VM and I have a good one out of my 83 Max
I think for now they'll both go down to my old body shop which is just storage for cars right now, I'm just outta room around here. I did start grinding on the 600 VM cyl.s on Sun to try to get that project rolling again

The rear skid is indeed the same Pro-Action as in the Vmax. Had too remove the exhaust on a sled I'm fixing up for my nephews to get to the electric starter. The sled sat in a barn and when I hit the key to see if the starter worked, whole kernels of corn came out the wye pipe...... my work is not done......
