Fuel ratio
Fuel ratio
88 exciter oil pump not working. Waiting on parts, but I want to make sure that it's running ok. What ratio sure I mix the fuel at? Should I bypass the system completely or is this a fluke??

Fuel Mix
Hi I have raced my 84 Vmax for over 15 years and a Factory Yamaha Rep told me not to trust the oil pump. I have premixed at 40:1 since that day and I have never had a problem

With todays high quality Synthetics such as Amsoil the directions show a 50-1 ratio and I know a guy that is an Amsoil dealer who claims he mixes at 80-1 ratio for his trail sled ! With that in mind I use 50-1 in every thing 2 stroke I have that does not have a oil injection. Less SMOKE and cost are a good thing. I believe Yamaha's injection varies somewhere from 100-1 at idle to like 20-1 at full throttle ? My oil for this year is going to be Blue Marble.
